Outward Bound Finland ry
Outward Bound Finland was established in 1993 in the small town of Nurmes in North Karelia near the eastern border after a group of active youth workers visited Outward Bound Germany in Koeningsburg. After the visit this little group was working together sharing a common goal to open a Outward Bound school to Finland. In 1994 Outward Bound Finland got a license from Outward Bound International and started operation with Finnish youth in North Karelia, South Karelia, Southern Finland and also Lappland (above the Arctic circle).
Outward Bound Finland is part of Outward Bound International and one of the more than 40 OB-schools around the world. Outward Bound Finland is funded by Ministry of Education and Culture which has stated OBF as a service organization in Finnish youth work. OBF organizes different courses and trainings based on experiential education. Outward Bound Finland is positioning itself as the expert in experiential training and outdoor safety in Finland. OBF also promotes both national and international cooperation of communities using the methods of experiential education.
