Outward Bound

Outward Bound helps people discover and develop their potential to care for themselves, others and the world around them through challenging experiences in unfamiliar settings.

Outward Bound is an international, worldwide, non-profit and independent organization which operation bases on experiential education and outdoor education.

Outward Bound has been established in 1941 and today Outward Bound has more than 50 schools all over the world in over 30 different countries. Outward Bound International is an umbrella organization of all the Outward Bound Centers worldwide.

The name Outward Bound derives from a nautical expression that refers to the moment a ship leaves the harbor.  JF Fuller adapted the Outward Bound motto, "To Serve, To Strive and not To Yield," from the poem "Ulysses" by Alfred Lord Tennyson.
